We’re Hiring: Computer Vision Engineer (YOLO, Raspberry Pi, Embedded AI)
Location: Remote (Eastern European time zone preferred)
Type: Part-time / Contract
Experience Level: Senior
Industry: Embedded Systems, Computer Vision, AI/ML, Aerospace
About the Role
Osambit is seeking an experienced Computer Vision Engineer to develop and deploy object recognition solutions for an aircraft-mounted camera system. You’ll work on designing a highly optimized neural network model capable of running in real time on constrained hardware — Raspberry Pi 5 + Raspberry Pi AI Kit (8-16 TOPS, Linux ARM64).
The task is to process video streams from onboard cameras, detect and classify objects such as railway cars and automobiles, and ensure the model operates accurately and efficiently within hardware limits.
What You’ll Do
- Build or adapt a neural network model (YOLOv7/v8 or alternative) for real-time object detection
- Optimize and quantize models for edge deployment on Raspberry Pi + AI Kit
- Evaluate model performance on constrained devices; fine-tune for speed and accuracy
- Integrate model into the aircraft onboard video processing pipeline
- Work closely with hardware and software teams to ensure smooth deployment
Requirements
- Strong experience with YOLOv7/v8 or equivalent object detection frameworks
- Proven track record in training custom neural networks and compiling datasets
- Hands-on experience deploying models on constrained devices (Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Coral TPU, Hailo, etc.)
- Solid understanding of model quantization, pruning, and acceleration techniques
- Familiarity with Linux ARM64 environments and embedded AI development
- Proficient in Python and popular deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Hailo accelerators
- Knowledge of RTSP video streams and onboard computer vision systems
- Familiarity with aerospace or industrial vision applications
- Prior work on model benchmarking and performance profiling
What We Offer
- Fully remote work with flexible hours
- Opportunity to work on innovative aerospace AI projects
- Collaboration with hardware and embedded systems experts
- Competitive compensation
- Potential for long-term engagement on future phases
