Location: Remote (Eastern European time zone preferred)

Type: Contract / Part-Time

English Level: Upper-Intermediate or higher

About the Role

Osambit is looking for a Middle–Senior Data Scientist to develop an ML-driven crypto trading solution. You will train predictive models using highly targeted market signals, design a robust backtesting framework, and help build automated trading workflows from research through execution.

This is a hands-on research and delivery role requiring strong trading-domain expertise and the ability to turn ambiguous ideas into realistic estimates, a clear ML delivery roadmap, and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of trading mechanics and market microstructure: CLOBs/order books, bid–ask spreads, quotes, liquidity, slippage, order types, execution, fills, latency, fees, settlement, and risk considerations
  • Practical experience training, validating, and evaluating ML models for time-series, financial, or signal-based problems
  • Strong knowledge of backtesting methodology: avoiding look-ahead bias and data leakage, transaction-cost modeling, walk-forward validation, performance metrics, and robustness testing
  • Advanced Python skills for data analysis, research, and production-quality ML workflows
  • Hands-on experience with common ML and data tools, such as:NumPy, pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn
    • PyTorch and/or TensorFlow/Keras
    • XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost
    • Jupyter, MLflow or Weights & Biases
    • SQL and data-processing tools such as Polars, Dask, or PySpark
  • Experience designing reproducible research pipelines, feature engineering, experiment tracking, and model evaluation
  • Ability to estimate research and delivery effort, identify dependencies and risks, and create a conscious ML roadmap from hypothesis to production deployment
  • Strong analytical mindset, ownership, and ability to communicate complex research findings clearly

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency markets, exchanges, and market data
  • Hands-on experience with crypto trading, including exchange APIs, order execution, and trading-system constraints
  • Experience building or integrating automated trading systems
  • AWS experience, including data, compute, storage, and ML services
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform
  • Production monitoring and observability experience with Datadog or New Relic
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud-based deployment workflows
  • Knowledge of streaming and event-driven systems, such as Kafka, Redis, or message queues
  • Familiarity with quantitative research, statistical arbitrage, market-making, or high-frequency trading concepts

What We Offer

  • Fully remote work
  • Professional and supportive team environment
  • Competitive compensation
  • Opportunity to contribute to a growing fintech product
