Problem

Finding an event venue required searching fragmented websites and contacting owners individually, while venue operators lacked an efficient digital channel to promote unused capacity and consistently generate qualified rental leads.

Constraints

The marketplace had to support highly diverse venue types, pricing models, capacities and amenities while serving two different audiences: customers searching for spaces and owners managing listings, enquiries and availability.

Solution Overview

We developed a two-sided online marketplace that connects people looking for short-term event spaces with property owners and venue operators seeking to monetize their available capacity.

The platform addresses a highly fragmented market where event organizers traditionally need to search across individual venue websites, classifieds and social networks before manually contacting multiple property owners. At the same time, many unique venues have limited digital visibility and no dedicated infrastructure for attracting and managing short-term rental enquiries.

We created a centralized discovery experience where users can search a large catalogue of spaces across multiple cities and compare fundamentally different types of properties through a consistent interface. The marketplace covers venues ranging from conference and meeting rooms to photography studios, restaurants, event halls, creative lofts and private properties.

Search and discovery are central to the product. Users can browse spaces by city, venue category and intended event type, then use structured information about location, capacity, pricing and available facilities to narrow the results. This allows customers to compare potential venues before contacting an owner rather than repeatedly collecting the same information from different sources.

The platform supports a wide range of use cases, including conferences, corporate events, workshops, training sessions, photo shoots, weddings, birthdays and private events. Instead of building separate products for each segment, the marketplace uses a common venue data model and categorization system to make different types of spaces discoverable through the same platform.

We also implemented the supply side of the marketplace. Venue owners can register with the service, create dedicated pages for their properties and publish structured information that potential customers need when making a decision. Each venue receives its own online presence, allowing operators to use the marketplace both as a lead-generation channel and as a destination for their own digital marketing campaigns.

Communication functionality connects potential customers with property owners, allowing questions and rental requirements to be discussed before a final decision is made. The platform's workflow also accommodates different payment arrangements, reflecting a market where individual venue operators may work with online payments, invoices or other payment methods.

An important product challenge was representing an inherently unstructured market in a searchable form. A photography studio, conference hall, restaurant and private event house have very different characteristics, yet customers still expect to search and compare them efficiently. We designed the platform around structured venue attributes, categories, event scenarios and filters while retaining enough flexibility for owners to describe the unique characteristics of each property.

The resulting marketplace provides value to both sides of the transaction. Customers gain a single destination for discovering and comparing hundreds of potential spaces instead of searching across disconnected sources. Venue owners gain a dedicated acquisition channel that increases the online visibility of their properties and helps turn otherwise unused availability into additional revenue.

The platform ultimately transformed a fragmented offline rental process into a scalable digital marketplace combining venue discovery, structured comparison, owner-generated listings, customer communication and rental workflows within a single product.
